Unsure if your bike needs a full tune up, or just a couple of simple adjustments? Diagnoses are fast and free. But as a rule of thumb, most geared bicycles will absolutely benefit from a comprehensive annual tune up. Preventive maintenance saves money in the long run, and more importantly: your bike will be safe and worry free.
Your bicycle will be serviced mechanic who has been professionally servicing bicycles since 1986, and is certified on technologies ranging from Serotta fit methodology to Wheelsmith wheelbuilding to Campagnolo EPS. That said, even the humblest bicycles are welcomed here at Tamago: rest assured that your 1962 Raleigh Superbe will receive the same level of painstaking care and attention as a 2018 Bianchi XR4.
Drop ins are still welcome, but consider booking your service ahead of time to ensure rapid turnaround. It gets very busy here in the spring & summer! When scheduling appointments, note that the windows refer to drop off times. Pick ups will be scheduled upon drop off.
Most bicycles will benefit from a Standard Tune Up, which covers all braking and shifting systems, full cleaning and lubrication, bearing adjustment, and wheel truing. The Safety Tune Up is intended for mechanically simple fixed gear, cruiser, and single speed bicycles. The High Performance Tune Up is meant for lightweight road racing bicycles. Special attention is paid to wheels and frames (all frames are examined for cracks and polished with automotive wax). Required for those with hydraulic brakes and/or electric drivetrains. ($40/80/120)
Are you a high volume rider, or someone who tends to have a variety of service needs over the course of a year? Annual service plans start at $60 and include two tuneups, unlimited adjustments, priority turnaround, and discounts on replacement components. ($60/120/180)
Did you know Tamago hand builds over 200 wheels each year? CUSTOM WHEELS are the most effective way to change the performance and durability of all types of bicycles. Proper BICYCLE FIT is the key to riding longer, faster, and more comfortably. A custom fit often means simply making subtle changes to your existing bicycle's configuration and ergonomics, but can sometimes result in a HAND MADE CUSTOM FRAME. And for the few remaining folks left in Hyde Park who know what tubular tires are, my brushes and pot of Mastik are here, ready and waiting.
