The truth of the matter is that, at least for coffee nerds, HERO doesn’t really rate in the scheme of local spots. But it is a cute and tiny spot, with outdoor seating, conveniently located downtown. And yes, it’s at the end of an alley off of Jackson.

Stick to the basics: espresso drinks are good, drip is not. Breakfast is decent but spendy. Vegan doughnuts from Beacon available on weekdays.
